1970 – I took this shot at Daytona in 1970 when he co-drove the NART Ferrari 312 with Mike Parkes. They finished 4th overall and first in Prototype class, although he told me he did not like the car – “…the cockpit was so cramped – I was always at odds with it.” But, he added, “…the damn thing was fast! It went 200 mph on the banking at Daytona!” I gave Sam a copy of this photos years ago and he commented how much he liked it because it reflected how he thought of himself as ‘the thinking man’s driver.” Photo and info Harry E. 2022 – Sam Posey was back in his Classic Car Wax Challenger during the 40th Lime Rock Historics. It was very emotional seeing him enjoying himself, in his old car, at his home track! He was yelling something to the driver (probably driving instructions) as they passed by me in the pits. It’s a good thing my camera can focus without my input as my eyes had tears in them.
