Alfonso Thiele (5 April 1920 – 15 July 1986) was a racing driver who held dual citizenship of the United States and Italy, though he spent most of his life in Italy.
He participated in one Formula One World Championship Grand Prix, on 4 September 1960. He scored no championship points. Most of his career was spent in sports car racing. Info from Wiki
With the exception of his single-seater drive in the 1960 Italian GP, Thiele was exclusively a sports car pilot, and a pretty good one at that.
He spent most of the late fifties campaigning the little Fiat Abarth (taking a 750 cc class win in the 1957 Mille Miglia), before graduating to a more potent proposition with the Ferrari 250GT, winning his class at the 1959 Monza GT meeting with this car.
In the early sixties he was a works driver for both the Fiat Abarth and Alfa Romeo teams. With the latter he took a fine fourth place in the 1964 Targa Florio, just behind team-mate Businello.
