With a fully sponsored drive in the national Formula 2 series from 1992, he won the 1993 title with a Ralt RT40-Chrysler. The championship switched to the redundant Indy Lights Lola T93/20 chassis and Chevrolet power in 1998 and Berg won that championship in 2001 – the last year of Mexico’s top-flight single-seater series.
