Big Beta… 40 years ago Hans Heyer won the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft. Prior the last race at the Hockenheimring, Lancia-driver Heyer was leading Schnitzer-BMW-driver Hans-Joachim Stuck by eleven points, who was the only rival for the championship title. Lancia entered a second car for Piercarlo Ghinzani, who dressed up as a copy of Heyer. Meanwhile Schnitzer BMW turned up with three cars for @strietzelstuck, Walter Brun and Harald Grohs. During the race Heyer suffered engine problems and retired, but still won the championship, as Stuck had retired too. On the first lap he tried to pass Heyer at the Ost-curve, but he got hit from another driver behind and went into the catchfences. Heyer won the DRM twice before. Photos: Ferdi Kräling.
