1974 -Ian Scheckter and Dave Charlton: Ian Scheckter’s Gunston Lotus 72 comes under pressure from Dave Charlton’s Lucky Strike McLaren M23 at Kyalami’s Republic Day Trophy, today in 1974. Scheckter had got the jump on Charlie when he fluffed the start off pole position, leaving Dave to hunt Ian down and duly pass him for the win.
