A lovely Peter Nygaard photograph of me turning into Druids ahead of the late great Niki Lauda in his Ferrari and my sadly missed friend David Purley in the Token. Sadly I didn’t qualify for the race. It was a really competitive field with about 35 drivers for the 25 grid places. I was not alone in not making the cut, drivers such as my friend Derek Bell, poor David Purley, Guy Edwards, Vern Schuppan, Leo Kinnunen, Tom Belso, Lella Lombardi, Howden Ganley and also John Nicholson. I tried my best with the tyres we had but it was not meant to be. Love the picture though. 🙂 Info Mike Wilds and photo © Grand Prix Photo. Source via FB page 1974 GP GB. Photo and info Paul Fairbanks 1976 G8 Shellsports series 1976 this is from Sauro Torreggiani Mike Wilds drives the Chevron B41 at Silverstone during the last round of the Aurora-series in 1980. The B41 was ready at the beginning of the 1979 season and would be the only F1 Chevron ever made. A test car for things to come however (probably together with VDS). But when Derek Bennett died in a hang-glider accident all future plans for F1 were shelved. The B41 only raced in the Aurora series. Mike was the last one to drive it in competition. I think it later made a come-back in the Thoroughbred-Series. Info from FB and photo Julian C E Roberts 1983 Oulton Park. Photo Steve Jones Artist about Mike Wilds
